There is no place like South Florida. It is hands down, one of my favorite places on earth. I mentioned in my last post that when I traveled there recently, I absolutely overpacked and ended up wearing the same thing the whole time. My white, low top Converse and my red Merona bag from Target were the staple of most outfits I wore. The Converse were great because (gasp) my toes were not done and the bag fit my DSLR in it so I was always ready for any and every photo opportunity.
We spent New Year's Eve day at a beautiful estate in Miami called Vizcaya. Since traveling to the Biltmore in Asheville a couple of years ago, touring old estate grounds has become one of my favorite vacation hobbies. I'm always captivated by the unique grandeur of these people's homes. It's nothing like the estates or compounds we see today. Vizcaya did not disappoint, the grounds were breathtaking, filled with beautiful landscaping, gardens and secret hideaways. My family and I spent a little over two hours there, and truthfully could have stayed longer if they weren't closing. Afterward we enjoyed dinner at a nearby restaurant in Coconut Grove called Jaguar: Ceviche Spoon Bar and Latam Grill, which was by far the best meal of the trip. If you are ever in Coconut Grove, it is a must try. I will be returning for more ceviche punta mita.
